Eliel Celebrates Its First Anniversary on Saturday, 10 October 2026, from 10 am to 5 pm

During the anniversary celebration, visitors can explore the historic City Hall building, its exhibitions, and the work of the Regional Museum of North Karelia through guided tours, presentations, and opportunities to meet museum experts.

The day’s programme includes several guided tours of the exhibitions and the building’s facilities. Please note that the programme will be presented in Finnish.

The first anniversary programme is included in the Museum Eliel admission fee (€12/€5/Museum Card).

Guided Tours of the Exhibitions and the old Joensuu City hall

  • 12:00 pm Guided Tour of the Building (approximately 45 minutes)
  • 2:00 pm Guided Tour of The Karelian Maiden (approximately 45 minutes)
  • 4:00 pm Highlights of the River and The Karelian Maiden exhibitions (approximately 45 minutes)

In the second floor, visitors can learn about the work of the Regional Museum of North Karelia and meet museum’s experts between 11 am and 3 pm.

The Story Behind the Folklorist’s Cellar

Niko Lankinen, Project Coordinator of the exhibition, will introduce the origins of the Folklorist’s Cellar. Presentations about the cellar will take place on the hour at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm (approximately 30 minutes).

Birthday Coffee at Eliel & Loja

Complete your museum visit with birthday coffee and a pastry! Visitors who purchase a museum ticket on 10 October will receive coffee and a sweet bun at Eliel & Loja for the special anniversary price of €5.
